We offer UNLIMITED group makeup lessons for scheduled absences. Makeups are issued as a courtesy, but we cannot guarantee availability. The best way to ensure there are makeups for your use is to submit your absences with as much advance notice as possible. To ensure consistency, we encourage families to attend their weekly, scheduled class time. 


Makeup lessons may be scheduled up to 6 days in advance through the app. 

How to Schedule Absences and Makeups

The only way to schedule your absences and makeups is through the app. We will not record absences or schedule makeups sent via email or through the office.  

No-Show Absences

If you do not report your absence, it will be considered a no-show. No-shows are not eligible for a makeup lesson. 

Please Note

Makeups become available for scheduling the same day as your scheduled absence. No matter how far in advance you schedule your absence, the makeup will not show in your account until the day of your scheduled absence. 


Scheduling Siblings

When scheduling for multiple students, please check class availability for both students BEFORE scheduling. There is usually only one spot available in an open class. It is best to look for 2 classes at nearby times before scheduling your makeup. All available classes are visible in the app.

Other Important Details

  • Makeups are limited to students who are actively enrolled in a class.
  • Makeups can be rescheduled in the app. There are no makeups for missed makeup classes.
  • Makeups expire 30 days after the missed class if they have not been used. Makeups cannot be extended past 30 days. 
  • A makeup class will be offered for classes that are canceled by British Swim School and expire after 1 year.
  • Makeups cannot be used as payment for regular classes. 
  • Makeups are not transferable and have no monetary value.
  • No credit or refunds will be provided for unused makeups.
  • All unused makeups expire on the day of the last paid class. Makeups cannot be used to extend enrollment after the last paid class.
  • Private or Semi-Private lessons will be offered a GROUP makeup class if the absence was scheduled 48 hours in advance.
  • Makeups are not given for Summer Sessions or Dolphin classes.


FAQ


How can I schedule makeups and absences?


All makeups and absences can be scheduled in the app. If you cannot access the app, you can also use your parent portal online, but the app is much easier and quicker to use!

How far in advance can I schedule my absence?


At least 48 hours' notice is greatly appreciated. The reason we ask for 48 hours' notice is so there will be more makeup opportunities for others. The absence and makeups work like a bank account, absences are the deposits and makeups are the withdrawals. Even if it is shorter than 48-hour notice, we ask you to record all absences (right up to class time) to earn a makeup and so we can better understand class progression patterns.

Can I send in my absences and makeup requests through email?


No, the absence and makeup system is 100% automated for you to schedule real-time! By the time an email gets to us, most likely the makeup spot will be gone!


I have scheduled an absence, but the makeup is not available for me to schedule. Did I do it correctly?


Yes! If the date of the missed class is more than a week in the future, the makeup will not be in your account yet. You "earn" the makeup the morning of your missed class.

I have makeups from the past, but they aren't showing in my account. Where'd they go?


The makeup may have expired. Makeups may be used for 30 days after the missed class. We aren't able to extend the expiration date for any unused makeups.

I am trying to schedule a makeup class, but there are no options on the day I want. Is class availability on the app live?


Yes, everything that is available shows on the app. Makeups can be scheduled up to 6 days in advance, so classes beyond that time frame won't show up. In some cases, there may not be any openings on the day you are looking for. We recommend checking back as classes open up frequently throughout the day.


I have two students, how can I tell if there is room for both of them in the same class?


The app shows the number of available spots in each class. 


I scheduled an absence, but now I can come to class! What do I do?


Please check with our staff via chat. We need to make sure your class is not full. We will let you know if you can come to class.

We are unable to attend our scheduled makeup? Can we please reschedule for another time?


Yes, you can change your makeup classes in the app any time before the scheduled makeup.
